Tamara and Steve | French Legation Wedding (Part 2, Ceremony!)

Talk about a day bathed in beautiful golden light … I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a prettier day for a ceremony.  Tamara and Steve exchanged vows in the courtyard of the French Legation Museum on October 22, 2011 at 5 PM surrounded by family and friends.

I love this shot of Steve and their officiant heading to the steps of the museum, where the ceremony took place.  He looks SO happy!

After all the guests were seated, the ceremony could begin.  Tamara’s dad walked her all the way from the carriage house to the ceremony location, and we got this great shot of them starting the journey.

And then another as they waited in the wings.

See what I mean about the golden light?  It made for such a beautiful procession!

I love being able to capture the look on the groom’s face when he first sees his bride coming down the aisle.  It’s magical every single time.  Steve was no exception.

Tamara, you are radiant!

Tamara’s parents gave her away.

One of the most important reasons for having two photographers at your wedding is the ceremony.  It allows you to get such a different mix of perspectives that could never be accomplished by a single shooter.   As primary, I capture the close and intimate moments, while my second shooter stays back and shoots wide.  In this case I shot part of the ceremony from the porch so I could get Tamara and Steve’s faces, and Ashley remained directly in front of the couple, shooting from the aisle.  At one point we switched places and I went all the way to the back to get the ultra-wide shot of the ceremony since my full-frame camera would fit the widest possible view in the image.

And at last, married!

And to close out this blog post, a cute one from their bride and groom portraits.  One more post is coming with reception shots.  What a great party that was!

Congratutlations again to Tamara and Steve!
